Work
As a writing intern with The Upper Room in Nashville Tennessee, I have primarily assisted with the Braille edition of our daily devotional magazine. I have emailed and spoken with a number of subscribers, often having incredibly rich and beneficial conversations. For 350 subscribers however, we only had addresses. I manually Brailled letters for each of them to collect more contact information and determine whether the Braille edition was still being used. There is now a system in place which will make annual evaluation possible without having to Braille letters each time.
I have researched other formats accessible to the visually impaired. Many of our Braille readers have already transitioned to BRF (Braille Reader File) files or daily emails, but still more wish to have audio. I am currently in the process of recommending The Upper Room to the Association of Christian Ministries to the Blind, a loose association of various ministries which work for each other's benefit and offer each other advice. With their help, I believe The Upper Room can once again have a consistent audio format. It is also my hope that through E-pub files and audio, more of our wide variety of material will be accessible to our blind subscribers.
I planned two staff chapel services. For the first service, I wrote a meditation and planned a reflection. I used coffee as a unique worship element. In addition, I lead a Taizé or contemplative service on the banjo. I prepared the readings and structured the service.
I am about to begin my third year as a Spiritual Life Assistant in a freshman residence hall. This job entails working with resident assistants to insure that freshmen have as smooth a transition into college life as possible. It is also something of a chaplaincy position, providing them with a spiritual foundation if they wish. I have participated in three conferences of the Academy Of Young Preachers, giving a sermon at each, including the national festival in Dallas Texas. During the summer of 2014, I studied away with Belmont on the Pine Ridge Native American Land Reserve among others, and interned at Ethos Church, assisting in sermon preparation and theological research. I have been in contact with potential freshmen of the college of theology and Christian ministries, addressing any inquiries or concerns.

Honors
In the fall semester of 2013, I received the honor of student of the month, having been nominated by a resident assistant. I have received awards from Belmont's college of theology and Christian ministries in 2014 and 2015. I am a member of the Belmont Alpha Delta Sigma chapter of the Theta Alpha Kappa national honor society for students of Religion.
